Project Overview
Cochran & Mann proudly provided commercial painting and wallcovering services at the Catholic University of America’s new Conway School of Nursing. The project was led by general contractor Clark Construction.
The new facility, 102,000 square feet in total, supports clinical learning and instructional support areas, including simulation labs for acute care and clinical examination training, laboratories, specialized classrooms, an auditorium, study areas, administrative offices, and common areas.
The exterior of the building was carefully designed to blend in with the historic facades of nearby campus buildings, showcasing century-old stone salvaged from the 1926 Church of the Transfiguration in Philadelphia.
The Cochran & Mann team, led by Charlie Dukes, painted all the spaces in the project, including around the multi-story grand windows. The primary color used on the project was McCormick Paints' Total Advantage eggshell flat.
Challenges
The desire was for the education facility to have flexible and dynamic spaces for classrooms, meetings, and workshops. The paint and wallcoverings needed to be versatile but also aesthetically pleasing. The goal was to create an environment that not only facilitated learning and collaboration but also reflected the historical details of the college.
There was also a need to have surfaces that could withstand high traffic and frequent use, essential for an educational setting where durability is as important as appearance.
The Result
.The solution came in the form of high-quality, robust materials that promised longevity without compromising on style. These surfaces were painted with finishes that are easy to clean and maintain, ensuring the facility remains pristine and welcoming for years to come.
The selection of materials and colors supported the spaces' multifunctional nature while maintaining a cohesive and inviting design aesthetic.
